PE Stamp and Permit Drawing FAQs

Straight answers about stamps, costs, timelines and getting your permit approved.

A PE stamp, also called a seal, is applied by a licensed Professional Engineer to drawings, calculations and reports. It shows the engineer prepared or reviewed the work and accepts professional responsibility for it. Building departments require it for most structural and MEP permit documents.

Homeowners, contractors, architects, developers and manufacturers whose project includes engineered elements: beams, foundations, retaining walls, steel, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, equipment anchorage and more. Your plan reviewer will tell you when it is required, and we can too.

Often, yes. We review third-party drawings for code compliance and engineering adequacy. If calculations or changes are needed, we tell you before sealing. A responsible engineer never stamps work without reviewing it.

We serve all 50 states and Washington, DC. Each project is sealed by a Professional Engineer licensed in the state where the project is located, through our network of state-licensed PEs.

Use the quote form, call +1 (424) 428-2898 or email contactpeengineer@gmail.com. Include the project address, what you are building and any drawings or plan-check comments. We reply with a fixed-fee quote, usually the same day.

Fees depend on the size and complexity of the project. A single beam letter costs far less than a full commercial plan set. We quote a fixed fee after reviewing your scope, so you know the cost up front.

Many residential projects are delivered within a few business days of receiving complete information. Commercial and industrial projects are scheduled when we quote. Rush service is available.

A sealed PDF drawing set ready to submit, plus calculations or reports where your jurisdiction requires them. Printed and signed sets can be arranged where a department still requires paper.

Send us the comments. We answer each item, revise and reseal the drawings, and provide a response letter. Revisions within the original scope are included.

Most permit drawings are prepared from your plans, measurements and photos. When a site visit, inspection or observation letter is required, we arrange it through a licensed engineer local to the project.

Yes. We coordinate directly with your design team and contractor, follow their sheet format when needed, and answer field questions during construction.

Sealed PDF sets for permit submission. CAD files can be provided for coordination when included in the scope.

Yes. We engineer tenant improvements, change of use, MEP systems, fire protection, platforms, racks, equipment anchorage, tanks and crane runways, among other commercial and industrial work.

After you approve the fixed-fee quote, we send an invoice with simple online payment options. Work starts as soon as the project is confirmed.
